Welcome To Mrs. Bryan's Learning Cafe8th Grade Blog
Welcome to my blog! I am very excited to start the school year and meet everyone! This will be my 22nd year teaching in Aurora. I also had an amazing student teaching experience in Australia. Before teaching, I worked at Merrill Lynch for seven years. Support one another. Know it's okay to fail. Find new ways to solve problems. Show respect to everyone. Use our time wisely. Hold each other. Edwards Huntington, WV Isaiah 64:8 says 'O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.' In the same way we allow our lives to be molded and shaped by the Master Potter's hands, we are learning in class that each project we create helps us grow into a better artist for God's glory. Welcome to our 2nd grade government blog. We have been working on a Project Based Learning project titled, 'How Does the Government Impact Me?' Students began researching all parts of local, state, and national government. They also learned about services that are provided or regulated by the government. Alger's grade 5 homeroom. Hello Families, Yesterday the winners of the John Newbery Medal and Randolph Caldecott Medals were announced for excellence in children’s literature.
Being in the halls of Morgan County Middle School brings back lots of memories from 30+ years ago when I walked the 4th – 8th grade halls myself as a student here. It was some of my struggles (academically, physically, emotionally, and socially) during this difficult time in life that gave me the determination to make my class one that students will feel loved, needed, respected, and challenged. I want my students to look forward to coming to science each day, and I want them to be able to share with someone else each night concerning what they learned new that day. After graduating in 1989 from Morgan County High School, I worked at the Bank of Madison for 6 years as I worked on my Bachelor’s Degree in Middle School Education at UGA. Later, I continued my education at UGA and received a Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology. My first job was at Nathaniel Greene Academy where I taught 3rd grade for a year. Excited to get back to my hometown, I taught 8th grade Language Arts, Science, and reading for ten years. Then I moved to 7th grade at Morgan County Middle School where I taught Life Science, Language Arts and reading for seven years. Of the sciences, I have taught Earth Science, Physical Science, Life Science, and Integrated Science during my teaching career. This will be my fourth year teaching 6th grade.
A little more about me… My family consisting of my husband and 12 1/2 year old daughter live in Madison. My mother and father, Carolyn and Glynn Broome, have lived in Madison for 40+ years. My brother, his wife, my nine year old nephew, and my six year old niece live in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. My hobbies include “mini vacations” with my family, spending every minute I can with my daughter playing and learning, gardening, painting, cooking, fishing, and surfing the web for resources. I am a member of Fusion Church of Madison.
I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year!!!
Hello parents and students,
This blog will be one way our class communicates during the school year. I am attaching a calendar so that you can easily see any up coming events or tests, and keep track of assignment due dates. Additionally, students will be working on filling in their student planners as this is a good life skill.
It is my hope that we will work together this year to maximize student learning opportunities. I believe that parental encouragement is important to student learning. As a parent, when I ask my son what he's learning at school I hear the standard answer, 'I don't know.' I have learned that if I ask more specific questions I may get a better answer. Now I ask him,'What are you writing about in language arts class or what book or story are you reading in class?' If you have any questions about what we are doing in language arts and social studies (history) please contact me. For your convience my e-mail address is: martin.ginger@bgsd.k12.wa
Thank you for taking the time to read our classroom blog and I am looking forward to our class having a great year!
